Vividly captured “nightmare” that is sadly tragically a growing reality for small island and other communities slowly being swallowed😿

I cannot even begin to imagine the feeling of losing your home to water... gone forever.

I enjoyed reading this piece. Actually felt a bit claustrophobic reading the last paragraph. Whew. Beautiful imagery. Thx.

I had exactly the same feeling when I woke up.

Did you open your eyes with a gasp for air?

The feeling was more like my heart was reanimated.

I concur. Felt trapped and helpless. But since it was a dream the next scene could’ve been anything the dreamer would want it to be.

This short story is really nice. I'm so impressed by how you were able to capture so much detail in such a small amount of words, without the narrative feeling empty.

Thanks, Ugo. Dreaming the story helped with the details in this piece. Normally, I would sweat more for giving so much texture to a story.

Time to build an ark... hope the flooding spares you!

I am not worries because I'm not close to the river... but we should still built an arc so we don't end up in a sinking capsule...

Very visual and moving story, Claudia.

"One day, we found a green twig, a willowy tender child of a spring that never came." -- my favourite line.

Hope the flooding doesn't get any higher! I'd been reading on the news how bad the floods were across Europe.

Thank you, Nathan, it's always good to read from you.

I don't know what's happening, but after record heat we now have record flooding. It's quite sobering.

How's spring?

I meant to say that reading your story made me think of this film that we recently saw at the Melbourne International Film Festival: https://m.imdb.com/title/tt4772188/

Spring is ... as unpredictable as ever. Some warmth, but then a day at the weekend that was colder and wetter than most of winter, but now a little sunshine ahead for later in the week.

Wow, that's so beautiful, Nathan! I actually thought that this little story could be adapted for a silent animated film. Wouldn't that be the dream?

A quite chilling story with good choice of details. Sounds like one heck of a dream!!! Sorry that it’s all to real. We’ve had unusual rainfall and heat again this year where I live.

Thanks for reading and for the feedback, Todd. Where are you located?

A beautifully haunting story. I'm sorry you're going through this. May the weather stabilize soon.

Like in my story, it still rains... Let's see. I'm not close to a river so all good. Thanks for reading, Nadia! 💚

Push your countries to do better than Paris Accord in transition away from fossil fuels. Eat less meat! Turn down the temp and wear a sweater this winter! Walk-ride your bike more and drive less! Do everything within our power to keep the great flood from happening! That being said....

In this most liveable city in the world, newly built city parts are concrete, car cities without trees and not pedestrian friendly. That's all I can say.

great writing, good luck avoiding the flooding

Thank you,I'm not close to the river, my area is more than safe. Some other parts of the city on the other hand are suffering. It's crazy that this can happen in a big city. On the other hand, it's build on the flood plain of the Danube river 🤷🏻‍♀️.

yeah, kind of expected at times especially in our climate madness;

glad to hear it! So, you can put away all the arc-building materials!

I saw a video of it this morning, wow. Really powerful currents. Glad to here your area is safe. It is a bit crazy. I live in Paris and we've had a really high rise of the Seine a couple of times but as the city is built up above the river, it doesn't change much for us. Downriver though, other towns get flooded. Good luck anyway!

It's crazy that the rain simply doesn't want to stop. It winds down a bit and then it picks up again. Let's see. Good to hear that the French were wiser when they built a city next to a river.
