I think this is my favourite chapter, though I agree with Johnathan in that there's definitely space to expand more within that year that passed by. At least there's the space there to write into should you be so inspired. ;)
I like the build-up and tension as we were led towards that cocoon. Excellent and vivid prose as always.
Thanks, Nathan. It was the most difficult to write, I was happy that my live serialisation exercise was over. Haha, thanks for the interest of knowing more. I wrote a piece about the making of this story. Maybe it sheds some more light. In any case, there won’t be a follow up to this story.
Please don’t apologise, it makes me feel bad for sending two pieces in one week 😅. You’re a very disciplined reader of your inbox. I admire that and your generous support 💚. Hope work is not increasing now that annual goals must be met. End of the year rush to conquer the world. Not sure if academia works like corporates.
Hehe, thanks. Yeah, it's just crazy at the end of semester. A lot of teaching in the lead up to the end, and now a mountain of marking, grant deadlines, and also a conference, along with the usual other never-ending tasks. I'm desperate for some time off.
I was more fearful than I needed to be. But that last year went too quickly for me! I hope you flesh it out at some point in another story with more of the mindbending trainee details.
I'm looking at this like a tapestry. All the stories belong to the same world and it will be a slow discovery. There are too many details to add into a single short story. ☺️

Looking forward to reading that piece. It's been a mad week and I'm only just starting to get on top of my inbox, so apologies for the delay.

Wow 😮 that sounds even tougher than your regular office job. Thankfully, santa 🧑🎄 is almost around the corner.

I like your plan!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks, Keyon, I'm so happy to read that you enjoyed the ending.
I hope everything went well with the wedding and that you had a wonderful honeymoon.
That‘s fantastic, happy for you both! And now back to writing? 😅
That‘s exactly what it is! 🥲
