We have wolves as well in Romania. Western Europe is not used to having bears and wolves in their forests anymore. There are some efforts to reintroduce them in the ecosystem but people don't now how to live with them anymore. In Romania we always had them, there's a different relationship with the natural world. Though now people also start craving bear and wolf-free mountains so that they can hike and do mountain sports without having to worry about accidents. It's a tough topic.
I can imagine. Here we just have snakes and spiders which are obviously high stakes but they won't approach if they can help it and they won't try to steal your picnic.
In Austria they reintroduced wolves after decades and people are complaining because they sometimes eat sheep 🐑… They are wild animals and they’re hungry…
In Romania it’s trendy to go foraging in the forest but people don’t know that they basically take away the little food the bears have to eat: berries, mushrooms etc.
Is there still time to join? Trying to work on a somewhat positive future novel, but letting life get in the way a bit. It has several big landscapes, with new ways of life. I'd love to focus on one a little for a short piece to share.
What a great idea! I’m in a similar place. Serialising my novel here, staying focused on that. But a short piece exploring a theme planned for a later chapter seems like a good use of creative time.
